Staff

Our Church thrives in part due to the energy and style of the people who lead it. Here are a few of the people that make our church community special…

Interim Pastor

Rev. Mark Sprowl

Rev. Mark Sprowl has served as our Interim Pastor since September, 2010. He is a specialist in interim ministry and has completed successful interims at Presbyterian Churches in Glen Allen, Richmond and Providence Forge. Originally from Southern California, he completed his theological training at Princeton Theological Seminary and has served congregations in California, Arizona, Arkansas, Kentucky and Massachusetts.

Mark notes that, “in another life,” he obtained a Master of Fine Arts degree in Cinema Production from the University of Southern California but felt the call of Christ leading him down another road. He still enjoys movies, however, as well as singing (he sings in the Gregory choir) and playing piano. He lives in Mechanicsville and is married to Presbyterian minister, Rev. Janet Humphreys. They have two children in college: Holly, a freshman at James Madison University and Tim, a third-year student at the University of Virginia, and also two cocker spaniels, Snickers and Cookie.

Secretary

Julie Jacobs

Julie Jacobs joined the staff in 2011 and is temporarily on leave after the birth of her new baby boy, Connor. We are pleased to have Carolyn Gentry helping us out until Julie returns in February, 2012.

Choir Director / Organist

Sandra Perkins

Sandra Perkins has been involved with the music program at Gregory since1973. She started playing piano for the children’s choir under the direction of Melva Morris. After college Sandra joined the chancel choir for special music programs and eventually became a full time choir member. In 2006 she began playing the organ for worship service and directing the choir.

Sandra notes, “We are all volunteers. Some of us know music, some don’t – but we all have a good time. We enjoy the fellowship and invite you to join us on Wednesday night for practice. Our goal is to make a joyful noise!”

Worship & Choir Accompanist

Gail Rollings

Gail Rollings is a long-time church and choir member and began serving as the accompanist in 2006.
