Christian Education

The mission of Christian education at Gregory is “to guide our members into a growing, loving relationship with Jesus Christ using dynamic and diverse programs through which they can learn God’s Word, share the Good News of Jesus Christ and experience a Christian community.” (from the C.E. Mission Statement)

CHILDREN AND YOUTH

  • Sundays 9:45 – 10:30 am (2nd Sunday in September through the last Sunday of June)
  • Sundays 9:15 – 9:45 am (1st Sunday in July through the 1st Sunday of September)

Gregory seeks to nurture our youngest members through engaging Sunday School classes throughout the year and a special “Junior Church” experience for Preschool through 1st graders during the worship service.  Each summer we offer a week-long fun growth opportunity for children.  In 2011, Presbyterian Camp Hanover leaders led a four-day “Vacation Bible Camp” for 21 children, most of whom were drawn from beyond our church.

Middle School through High School youth participate in a challenging discussion-oriented class each Sunday which focuses on the special needs and interests of that age group.

ADULTS

  • Sundays 9:45 – 10:30 am (2nd Sunday in September through the last Sunday of June)
  • Sundays 9:15 – 9:45 am (1st Sunday in July through the 1st Sunday of September)

Two to three adult classes are offered on Sunday mornings throughout the year.  Enthusiastic lay teachers lead the “Fellowship Class” which uses “The Present Word” curriculum of the Presbyterian Church.  As its title suggests, it is based on God’s ancient Word in Scripture with helpful application found for the present day.  Each participant receives a free copy of the student booklet.

Lay leaders also lead the “Spiritual Enrichment” Class which typically is smaller in size and studies the Bible in a more inductive fashion with participants encouraged to offer their own understanding of the readings.

From time to time, the Interim Pastor leads a class on contemporary issues.  In the spring of 2011, he led a popular study of the best-seller, What’s the Least I Can Believe and Still Be a Christian?  In March, 2012, there will be a class exploring a book featured on a recent cover of Time magazine, Rob Bell’s Love Wins: A Book about Heaven, Hell, and the Fate of Every Person Who Ever Lived.
